I have raved about the Makeup Academy Cosmetics whipped velvet blushes quite a bit on my Instagram over the past year, and they have occasionally popped up throughout my monthly favourites here on my blog. With the colder weather drying out skin, a cream blush can really be refreshing on the skin. It adds a subtle and natural hint of colour to the cheeks, without it drying out the skin like a powder can. I am here to talk about some super affordable cream blusher options that help me to achieve a natural flushed look.
I don't own many cream blushes because if i don't like them first try i dismiss them, i also find that my sensitive skin can break-out with some cream based products that i apply to my cheeks. However, the affordable MUA whipped velvet blushes i fell in love with first try....
MUA Luxe Whipped Velvet: Hedonic blusher - Rococo blusher - ChiChi blusher - Spry blusher & Majestic Gild bronzer.
The first blush that i picked up from the line summer of 2015 was in the shade 'Spry' and i loved it so much that i had to pick up the other shades in the collection. The best thing about the MUA Luxe Whipped Velvet Blushes are the steal of a price, they are only £3 each! As much as i love high-end makeup i also love a good quality bargain too. I love that these blushes are nothing like i have ever used before, they aren't your usual 'cream' consistency formulation. The Mua Luxe Whipped Velvet blushers are a soft air-whipped, light-weight mousse texture, that feels like silky velvet on the skin. Each blush is packaged within a small, circular plastic pot and contains 4g of product. I actually like that the blushes are not intensely pigmented, they give a beautiful natural flush of colour to the cheeks, i tried the sleek ones and i found them too clown like on me. The Mua Luxe Whipped Velvet blushers apply well over powders without getting streaky, and can be blended into the skin with either a stippling brush ( i favour the MAC 130 ) or the fingers; making them ideal products for on the go. I have applied these myself on-the-go quite a bit as they are not super long-lasting ( though you could apply a powder blush over the top and use this as the base ), but as they are not super pigmented you cannot go wrong applying these on the go, out of fear that you could end up looking like a clown. I also really like their sticks, they have a tick blush, bronzer and highlight.
MUA Luxe Whipped Velvet Bronzer Majestic Gild
'Spry' is a pretty dusty-rose shade, it is the most neutral and wearable of all the shades, making it perfect for everyday use. 'Rococo' is a super fair blue-based pink, i find it too light on my skin-tone; However i use this on fair-skinned teenagers i give basic makeup lessons to, as it looks the most natural on the skin ( i also use on my daughters when they want to get made up for fun ). 'Hedonic' is a pretty bubblegum pink, it is pretty on fair to medium skin-tones. 'ChiChi' is such a beautiful coral shade, it looks intimidating in the pan but gives the most beautiful coral flush, and is especially stunning on medium and olive skin-toned beauties. 'Majestic gild' is perfect for helping to achieve that Jennifer Lopez Golden-Goddess glow. It also acts as great base for bronzer. I personally enjoy wearing Spry all year round, Hedonic and Chichi during the spring and summer and Majestic Gild when i have a tan in the summer months.
