Skincare | Kypris & Su-Man Face Serum Review

Let's talk about the two face serums you need in your life! A serum is considered a 'skin treatment' as they are formulated to penetrate deeply into the skin to deliver key ingredients. Where as a moisturiser is formulated to keep the skin hydrated by putting a protective barrier between our skin and the outside world. If our skin is dehydrated then a moisturiser alone wont give much hydration - however a serum can help. A serum is applied after toner and before moisturiser in our skincare routines. There are so many different types of serum treatments to choose from that it can seem overwhelming, but for me i like treatments that help to brighten and protect my skin. So often look for serums high in antioxidants and contain brightening ingredients like Vitamin C and Arbutin. After years of remaining loyal to the 'Ole Henriksen Truth Serum' I honestly thought there could be no other serum to compare and it took all the willpower in my body, not to repurchase another when it ran out. It was the perfect opportunity to introduce some new serums and ampoules into my skincare wardrobe. When it comes to serums i have learnt that you often get what you pay for, and i always recommend if you are going to invest money in anything skincare wise let it be your Serum. So it is important to have a good understanding of the ingredients within them. After sampling a handful of serums from affordable drugstore options, to high-end luxurious brands, i have finally added two amazing serums permanently to my skincare arsenal. Both will honestly change your life, like they did mine....

Kypris Antioxidant Dew | £52 - Via CultBeauty

The Kypris Antioxidant Dew was the first high-end serum i invested in after my Ole Henriksen Truth Serum - £47 ran out. It's a very potent, free-radical-fighting serum that is packed full of revitalising plant extracts equipped to combat elemental stress; by protecting irreparable DNA damage to the the skin like a shield from pollutants. Which age the skin. Packed full of 26 protective Natural ingredients like Vitamin C & E,  Ferulic Acid ( an antioxidant that combats free radical formation ), Sea Algae and Reed Extract ( sea vegetables that calm irritations and hydrate the skin without overwhelming the pores ), Rose extracts ( which soothe and tone ) and a personal favourite of mine Tamanu Oil ( which you can read about here ). Tamanu is one of the most active, healing plant oils known for it's ability to inspire cell renewal and treat and repair the appearance of past blemishes, making it perfect for those with oily acne-prone skin. This 'magical' milky serum promises to delay the signs of cellular slowdown, deeply nourish and protect it maintaining your skin’s natural, youthful glow. I will say this is one of the serums on the market that does exactly as it claims! Not only does it come in an aesthetically pleasing blue-glass bottle, but it really does what it claims! After the first two weeks of use i fell in love with how plump, dewy and healthy it made my skin look and i have pretty much used it everyday since. This serum will remain a permanent fixture in my skincare wardrobe.

This smooth milky serum has a light creamy texture, that absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving behind any greasy residue or stickiness, making it perfect for us who have oily skin. The pipette-dropper dispenses the perfect amount of product to cover your entire face, neck and decolletage area. I really have found it to be super long-lasting. I did have to get used to the scent as it reminds me of the smell of baby formula lol, however that's just personal preference as we are all sensitised to different smells. I have since grown accustomed to the smell, especially as it does dissipate once it's sunk into the skin. You may have noticed i have mentioned the Kypris Antioxidant Dew already on my blog, and it has graced my Instagram quite a lot too. Whenever i have been run-down and my skin has been unpredictable, irritated and sensitive i always reach for this - It's what i like to call 'medicine in a bottle'. It's quite literally a skin saviour that helps to heal the skin and bring it back to life! I love that it replenishes the skin adding hydration that leaves my skin feeling hydrated and soft but also looking clear, youthful and dewy. Another great thing about this serum is it can be layered in your skincare routine or it can be used in place of your moisturiser. Those with oily skin wanting that 'glowy' complexion will love this. If you suffer with a sensitive skin condition and want a treatment that will nourish and calm, whilst helping you to achieve that youthful lit-from-within glow, then honestly look no further! I guarantee you will need less makeup with this powerhouse in your skincare routine. I honestly cannot rave about it enough. I hope to try more Kypris products in the future.

Su-Man Velvet Skin Brightening Serum | £98 - Via CultBeauty

It was love at first touch with this serum. I swear it feels like liquid silk, fit for any princess! As a beauty blogger i decided to be bold and purchase the full size of this product after I fell in love with Su-Man's Rehydrating Toning Essence. I noticed immediate results with this serum on my first use - which i have never experienced before with any serum! All of Su-Mans products are a beautiful balance of Taiwanese tradition and Western innovation with a subtle uplifting Rose and Honey scent. The Su-Man velvet skin brightening serum is a potent elixir packed full of antioxidants, amino acids, omegas, ceramides and hydrating hyaluronic acid. Important ingredients include 'Dragons Blood Extract' which helps to brighten the skin and reduce wrinkles, 'Tranexamic acid' which helps to lighten dark spots ( which come from sun damage, acne scarring and ageing ), 'Hyaluronic Acid' which is a water holding molecule that can hold up to 1000x its waterweight, and lastly 'Rosehip Seed oil' which a rich source of essential fatty acids, that helps to promote skin repair and restore it's elasticity and strength. Over time it will help to improve your skin's texture also.

The serum is feels so luxurious on the skin, creating a barrier that feels almost like second skin to protect your skin cells from pollutants and free radicals. It has a lot of slip to it and literally glides over the skin like a veil. A little really does go a long way! I find that just 2 drops covers my entire face and neck. It absorbs quickly leaving me with more plump, smoother, radiant, youthful looking skin. The serum does have a light, subtle scent to it that isn't at all overpowering and i personally find it refreshing and uplifting. You do have to shake the bottle to mix up the solution as the oil and serum separates ( leaving what looks like a clear layer sitting on top of an orange layer ). Once shaken the mixture looks like a pretty peach gel, the colour stems from the dragons blood and rosehip seed oil. This serum is an essential anti-ageing step in my skincare routine, it boosts collagen production and leaves you with a natural lit-from-within glow. It literally is like seeing your skin reborn - and my skin has honestly never looked so good or felt so smooth. The Su-Man Velvet Skin serum is by far one of the best serums i have ever tested out, which justifies the steep price tag. I would recommend this for anyone over 30 adding anti ageing products into their skincare routine. Having combination-oily skin and i don't find that this makes me more oily at all - in fact it helps to hydrate my skin more, effectively helping to produce less sebum production.
